WTI crude oil futures rose around 2.5% to approximately $100.50, reaching their highest level in more than a month and moving closer to the five-month peak of $102.11. The rally reflects growing concerns over potential disruptions to global energy supplies as tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel intensify.
Supply risks have increased following reports of attacks on oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route responsible for the passage of roughly one-fifth of global energy supplies. Reuters reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy said two tankers were disabled and set ablaze by mines south of the strait, although it did not specify when the incidents occurred. Iran has also threatened to widen its blockade to include the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Suez Canal, raising concerns about further disruption to international energy transportation.
Meanwhile, continued Ukrainian strikes against Russian oil refineries are adding another source of uncertainty to the supply outlook. Ukraine reportedly resumed attacks after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized Washington over what he described as a dangerous withdrawal of support for Kyiv. With risks affecting both Middle Eastern shipping routes and Russian refining capacity, oil prices could remain sensitive to further geopolitical developments.

Technical AnalysisWTI Crude Oil Surges 2.5% as Supply Risks Push Prices Toward $102_1

WTI crude oil is showing strong bullish momentum on the H4 chart, with price climbing from the October lows near $87.30 and establishing a sequence of higher highs and higher lows. The recent advance has brought oil above the previous resistance zone around $92.70–$93.00, which now serves as an important support area.
Price is currently trading near $100.48, testing resistance around $100.40–$100.60. A short-term pullback toward the $99.00–$99.50 area could provide an opportunity for buyers to defend the breakout. If price holds above the former resistance near $99 and pushes through the current ceiling, the next upside targets are around $103.50, followed by $106.20. The chart’s projected move also points toward the $109 area if bullish momentum continues.
The overall outlook remains bullish while price sustains its breakout structure. However, failure to hold above the $99 region would weaken the immediate setup and increase the risk of a deeper retracement.
