      Market Overview

Gold remains caught between safe-haven demand and the pressure created by higher interest rates. On 20 October, Reuters reported spot gold at $4,126.84, down 0.3% in early Asian trading. Investors are reassessing the Fed's outlook after September inflation data came in stronger than expected, increasing concerns that restrictive monetary policy may persist longer.
The US 10-year Treasury yield and dollar are particularly important. When yields rise, investors can earn more from interest-bearing assets, reducing gold's relative attractiveness. Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions and concerns about global economic stability continue to support demand for defensive assets. These forces explain why gold can experience sharp rebounds without establishing a durable uptrend.
For a BUY at $4,120, the key question is whether buyers can defend the recent support region near $4,096–$4,104. FOREX.com identifies this as a major technical support zone, with resistance near $4,230. A sustained break above $4,230 would strengthen the case for a broader recovery, whereas a decisive breakdown below support could expose gold to further losses.

      Market Sentiment

Market sentiment remains cautious. The recent recovery has not erased the broader correction from September's highs, and traders are sensitive to changes in Treasury yields and expectations for the Fed. Nevertheless, the defence of the $4,096–$4,104 region suggests that selling pressure may be losing strength, although this does not guarantee an immediate rally.
The best BUY scenario is a successful retest of $4,120 followed by renewed buying and a break above $4,140–$4,150. That would suggest demand is returning rather than merely pausing the decline. If price falls through $4,110 without a meaningful rebound, the setup becomes weaker, and buying simply because the market appears oversold would be premature.

      Technical Analysis

Gold BUY Setup at $4,120: Support Rebound or Further Downside?_1
Bollinger Bands (20,0,2): Exact live M15 band values could not be verified. Look for price to rebound from the lower band and reclaim the middle band. A flattening or rising middle band would support recovery. If the bands widen downward while candles repeatedly close near the lower band, bearish momentum remains dominant.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo (9,26,52): Current M15 Tenkan-sen, Kijun-sen and Kumo readings are unavailable. A stronger BUY signal requires price to reclaim the Kijun-sen, followed by a bullish Tenkan/Kijun crossover. A move above the cloud would provide more convincing reversal evidence; remaining below a bearish cloud favours treating the trade as a countertrend rebound.
Stochastic (5,3,3): Look for a bullish crossover from the lower region while price holds above $4,110–$4,120. Confirmation improves if price forms a higher low and breaks above $4,140. A crossover alone is insufficient if price continues making lower lows.
The key support zone is $4,096–$4,104, with further support at $4,007. Resistance lies near $4,158–$4,180, followed by $4,230. These are broader published reference levels, not verified live M15 indicator readings.
